I'm very confused about Bergamo airport. Is it also know as Milan Orio al
Serio, and how do we get from there to central Milan without having an
expensive taxi? June Hopkins, Newcastle
A Sunday Times travel expert responds: Yes, Bergamo’s airport
is known as Orio al Serio, and although it’s 30 miles north east of Milan,
that’s only a mile further out than the main airport for Milan at Malpensa.
Getting from Bergamo airport to Milan is easily done using public transport,
even if you are travelling early or late in the day.
Buses run from the terminal to Milan’s central train station from 5am until
half past midnight, every 30 minutes or so, and hourly at very quiet
periods. The journey time is about an hour and the one-way fare is €7.00
(£4.70): tickets are sold on the bus.
If you prefer, there are regular trains from Milan to Bergamo, but you’ll have
to get a local bus for the 10-minute ride from Bergamo’s train station to
the airport.

I need to get from Bergamo airport to Lake garda. Is it possible by public transport - not the more expensive limousine or taxi?
