Kevin Keegan enjoyed a rollercoaster ride as the manager of Newcastle United first time around: the side played some thrilling football but failed to land that elusive silverware despite going close, most notably in the 1995-96 Premier League season when they finished runners-up to Manchester United.
Will it be different this time around? Who knows - but Keegan is certain to increase the entertainment level several notches once more at St James' Park and to whet your appetite we have produced a pictorial slideshow of some of the more memorable moments from his first stint on Tyneside.

Shear[er] Madness, it'll all end in tears on the tyne, when when Mr 'I can handle the criticism' Keegan walks off in a huff half way through next season, when they fface relegation. What a cop out.

What a joke
Howard, Savannah,
Good for Newcastle & welcome back to Kevin Keegan.
He was a very enthusiastic & honest manager at all his clubs.
He was also a great England player & far better than the curent failures.I look forward to the rivalry between him & Alex Ferguson---from a Man U supporter.
Clive, Storrington,
It's go to be better than McLaren - just.

Not sure this appointment really reverses the 'national joke' status of this once great club. Lets just hope he's still got it. Given that it's Newcastle however, I imagine that its all going to end in tears...
Stu, Southampton, UK
Great news!

I'd love it if we beat them

I cannot help feeling that until Alan Shearer has a go at managing the Newcastle, the Newcastle fans will feel as if they are missing something.
Karl Chads, London, UK
Hope it works out for KK, but i have doubts about the wisdom of this appointment. He did great things in his previous tenure and i really hope this doesn't turn into an anti-climax.
Peter Koeb, Geneva, Switzerland
Oh dear. Backwards step I'm afraid toon army.
"I'd love it........"
