In the wake of Manchester United's historic victory over Chelsea last night, Cristiano Ronaldo remains non-committal over his future at Old Trafford.
The Portugal international played a key role as United lifted the European Cup for the third time, scoring his 42nd goal of the season to give his team a 26th minute lead, only to see his penalty saved in the shoot-out that followed.
Amid growing speculation, Ronaldo has consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the player at one stage declaring that he would make a decision on his future after the final. And despite last night’s triumph, the player, while insisting he is happy at Old Trafford, is refusing to rule anything out.
"I don't promise nothing, I don't promise nothing to my mum, I don't promise nothing to the supporters," he said. "I want to stay, but the future... no-one knows. I want to stay. We are going to see in the next two weeks, I don't say I make a decision."
Ramon Calderon, the Real Madrid president, believes the club's hopes of prizing the player away from Manchester depend entirely on Ronaldo.
"The players play where they want. If a player decides to leave he is unstoppable, slavery was abolished a long time ago, nobody can prevent a player from moving," Calderon said.
"If the player is firm in his decision there is no one who can hold him back. I have always said that if Manchester want to sell him, we will ask about him, and if he wants to come and we can pay what they ask."
However, Carlos Queiroz, United's assistant manager, insists Ronaldo has no intention of leaving. "Without doubt he is going to continue in Manchester. He is very happy with us, he has a contract and there is no fear that he will leave," he said.

hes not gonna have it as good anywhere else! the best players in the world, the best manager in the world, the best club in the world! he was fantastic last night, the perfect retort to those who doubt his big match ability - made a world class player in essien look extremely foolish.
Drew, Manchester,
Let him go. His show boating penalty style, which demonstrated a total inability to learn from the Barcelona match, and a desire to put his ego ahead of his team's best interest, nearly cost MU the trophy. Top players sacrifice their egos for their team, he only loves himself. Good riddance.
Claire, Henley, UK
Back to back league titles and now the Champions League. I'm pretty sure Real Madrid can pay him whatever United can. What could possibly keep him in Manchester? Could it be his gorgeous SPANISH girlfriend, the fantastic Manchester weather or maybe his love for yorkshire pudding and fish suppers?
