Birmingham City are considering a loan move for Kevin-Prince Boateng after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was one of three players not given a squad number by head coach Juande Ramos.

David Sullivan, the Birmingham co-owner, described the deal as “still a possibility” and suggested the Germany Under-21 midfield player was close to a permanent move to a different club before the transfer window closed.

“Another club were about to buy him for a pile of money, but then changed their mind,” he said.

Ricardo Rocha and Adel Taarabt have also been frozen out by Ramos, while Boateng’s wage demands are thought to have prevented him returning to Germany, where he previously played for Hertha Berlin.
