My divorce settlement has come through and I want to take two friends who helped me through the trauma away on a luxury spa holiday. I have been to Dubai and enjoyed it, but have heard that Abu Dhabi is “up and coming” - where do you suggest? I am happy to say that money is not an issue. - Elaine Perry, via e-mail
Times travel expert Julia Brookes responds: If you have your heart set on Abu Dhabi, try the Emirates Palace (00 971 2690 9000). Its Anantara Spa offers body treatments and therapies in a Moroccan/Thai-inspired setting.
Alternatively, the spa at the Four Seasons in Doha, Qatar (00 974 494 8888) would be ideal. Private spa suites are available and there are hydrotherapy areas - something of a luxury in the desert. The hotel could also arrange some expensive retail therapy in the old souk and city centre mall.
