Anne Baker wants advice on where you can work with primates in their natural habitat

My daughter hopes to spend a couple of months in South Africa following graduation to work with primates in their natural habitats. Can you recommend any trips? - Anne Baker, via e-mail

The Times travel expert Julia Brookes writes:

Global Visioon International (01727 250250, www.gvi.co.uk) has chances for volunteers to work in education, environmental research, conservation and community development. Its partners include the South African National Parks Board, Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund and Jane Goodall Institute.

Working with vervet monkeys for eight weeks would cost £1,140pp, excluding international flights, and there are projects starting in June and July. Volunteer work with Lemur Venture in Madagascar for eight weeks would cost £1,400pp and there is a July departure.
