We are thinking of getting married in India, the northwest in particular. Can you suggest a palace or a regal place where we can tie the knot? - Adrian Pascoe, via e-mail
The Times travel expert Julia Brookes writes:
As 30 days' residence is required to get married in India, you might prefer to follow the example of Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar, who got all the red tape out of the way in the UK and then had a blessing at the Art Deco Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The Rambagh Palace in Jaipur is another possiblilty. Both are palace hotels run by Taj (www.tajhotels.com) and its team of wedding planners can help to organise everything from pre-wedding hand painting to a Rajasthani dinner in the palace gardens.
