After leaving university I embarked on a 20-month-trip around South East Asia and Australia.
On arrival in Bangkok I bought my first 'Point and shoot' camera. As soon as i got the first roll of film back i was hooked on photography and spent more than a year and a half taking pictures of anything and everything I found of interest along the way.
Back in the UK I invested in my first SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera and I'm still shooting anything and everything.
One thing that struck me on that first trip was the beauty, colour and warmth of the countries and people of South East Asia and I've been returning to various destinations in the region for the past few years - taking with me as much film (now memory cards!) as i can carry. One thing I always bring back with me is a smile.
The exhibition is a collection of pictures taken during this period and captures the essence of the people, culture and places.

Don' be so bitter Guy Cavendish, not all photography needs to be photojournalism, and why do we need to see more miserable photos when we are bombarded with them in the press every day? What is happening in Burma is terrible, but I am sure the Burmese people would not want only negative images to come out of their beautiful country.
Ally, Paris,
I hope you make lots of money from your lovely pictures of Burma. You didn't manage [or choose] to capture any pictures of the more repressive aspects of what goes on in the country I note.
Guy Cavendish, London,
