Sociable, without any stigma attached to travelling on your own, trips including dance classes are a great choice for singles. Here is the pick of dance holidays on offer this summer, with a tempo for every taste. Many trips also offer activities for non-dancing companions.

Salsa

IT’S fiery and flirtatious and one of the easiest partner dances to grasp. Whether you are a novice or a regular at the thousands of salsa classes going on all over Britain, there is a huge choice of destinations.

Club Dance Holidays is the only specialist dance holiday operator in the UK and, says its founding director Robert Thompson, salsa is by far the most popular with customers, especially women in the 28-50 age bracket. There will be free taster nights from February to try before you book, or warm up before you fly, in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

A typical one-week holiday includes ten hours of classes and optional evening activities such as salsa clubs, bars and eating out. Salsa and Spanish

LEARN how to chat up your dance partners in the clubs of Barcelona on a salsa and Spanish week. You’ll learn Spanish (at all levels) every morning for five days and have dance classes in the afternoon. A tour leader will accompany evening outings to restaurants and clubs. The cost of £499 includes B&B at a three-star hotel, classes, and transfers, but not flights, which can be arranged.

Tango

BORN in Buenos Aires in the 1880s, the tango came to represent the poor, immigrant Argentinian’s struggle. The passionate, sexually charged dance was only later toned down and repackaged as a ballroom dance.

For a taste of the real thing, stay seven nights at the four-star Loi Suites Recoleta hotel in central Buenos Aires, go to six tango classes, and see a tango show with dinner. The price, from £1,250 includes flights and transfers.
