Win a trip to the Ice Hotel in Lapland
Sir, In the light of the AQA’s decision to remove Carol Ann Duffy’s poem Education for Leisure, from the GCSE English Literature syllabus because of its references to knife crime (report, Sept 4), I feel I must act to protect my students. As a responsible teacher, surely I can no longer teach Romeo and Juliet, as teenage knife crime is at its core. Similarly, Macbeth must go as it is full of blood and stabbings to such an extent that its main character starts to fantasise about daggers.
To be on the safe side, perhaps it is best that I do not teach Shakespeare at all.

I have always felt very strongly that Harry Potter books have a complete disregard for all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and it is disgraceful that our children should be exposed to such dangerous influences. Disgustedly yours,
