Resist such jadedness, though, and Modern Guilt’s genius soon envelops you. Youthless’s juddering, Wanna be Startin’ Something beats, squalling techno sirens and cool-as-a-cucumber finger clicks are deeply, unforgettably strange; and Replica’s combo of jungle, West Coast pop and a final, nightmarish collapse isn’t just ominous, it’s terrifying. Extraordinary.
