Blind dates for single parents

THE Surrey theme park Chessington World of Adventures is organising blind dates for single parents this summer. Children will be in tow to vet Mum or Dad’s prospective partner.

The new concept, in association with the online dating service Parents Already, is fully booked for its initial trial on Tuesday, but the park aims to run the service again in the summer holidays.

“Theme parks are great for meeting new people,” said a spokeswoman for Chessington. “The exhilaration of the rides breaks down barriers.” The days out will bring together single parents whose profiles have been selected online. “It’s a great way to bring single parents together in a relaxed, family-orientated environment,” said Glenn Wilson, a family relationship expert at the University of London.
